Appollo Ohno the most overrated olympian ever?

He's not the best short track skater he only won 2 gold (1 he cheated with) 2 silver and 3 bronze. he has more bronze than gold.Lee Jung-Su won 2 gold and he's only 19 is better than ohno. I think medal track is stupid cuz gold is the only thing that counts.Blaire won 5 gold and the media is hyping up ohno bronze medal.|||That's the long American tradition of going for the bronze. You're supposed to think a bronze medal is as good as a good medal. It harks back to the days when Americans were lucky to get bronze in most events, especially at the winter Olympics.

If you look at medal counts in any other country - I mean literally, any other country - they rank the countries by number of gold medals first. Silver and bronze are only for tie-break. In 2010, China was #1 on all the rankings except the US rankings.

It won't change soon, because Germany is only 1 gold medal behind the US, but 6 medals overall. So if Germany wins a couple more it will move to first place, and no American website wants to print that.

And no way is Ohno anywhere near comparing to either Blair or Eric Heiden. They got golds which means they won, they were the best. Not only that, they were invincible. Ohno's medals are a testament that he's not invincible, far from it in fact.|||I take it you must be Korean, because only an overzealous Nationalist, would attribute Ohno's 2002 gold medal win to cheating. He attempted to pass the Korean skater Kim. When Ohno made his move, the Korean drifted or moved in on him. Ohno threw up his hands to signal he was blocked. This kind of thing is very common in short track skating. It happens in every race. There is a lot of extremely tight passing, fouls and crashes in this sport. And there is a fine line between blocking and holding your line when when a skater is being passed. They are allowed to drift slightly, but they aren't allowed to deliberately block a guy from passing them. It is also part of many sports, when athletes think they've been fouled, they signal the refs or judges, to get a ruling. Ohno did not make the decision to disqualify the Korean skater. He pointed out a possible foul. That's all. The judges decide who fouls out, not the skaters. Also, America practically invented hype, so of course they are going to hype up one of their top skaters in a popular event, being aired on U.S. TV stations Let's not call Ohno a cheater just because some guy lost to him 8 years ago. Get over it already! The media will always have their favorites. Ohno is a young, decent looking, half white guy. If he were ugly, all japanese or black, the media would find another golden boy to show case. Shani Davis has two Gold medals and two Silver medals in speed skating. I notice that you chose to mention a woman and a Korean guy, but you didn't even mention the 'black guy'. He's getting coverage, but not nearly as much as Ohno. But then again, he's just a 'black guy', right? And nobody including you seems to care how many medals a 'black guy wins'.|||Honestly Apolo is very over hyped and overrated in america.

His record, impressive, but not great compared to many great skaters that have beaten him constantly.

For example, Ahn Hyun Soo took 3 gold, 1 bronze in 2006 alone. Compared to this, Ohno, in the world stage is a "good, proficient" skater.

Bonnie Blair stacked up five golds, and Eric Heiden stacked up five golds in one olympic.

Apolo Ohno is America's best short track skater, but not the best. I agree, he is good, but he is way overrated.|||Let me guess: you are Korean. A country rapidly getting a rep for the most unsportsmanlike in the world. Every time you guys whine and throw tantrums about Ohno it just gets worse.|||People get a little carried away by his short name and soul patch but he has won 7 overall Olympic medals in his career, so he is not overrated. Maybe over-publicized|||Apolo Anton Ohno is one of the best Olympians ever.|||He didn't cheat. Why make up pointless lies? It just isn't worth it.|||That is like your opinion, man.|||Not at all.

Bitter much?|||Michael Phelps is still the overrated Olympian in the world. Phelps has 14 medals (Athens and Beijing.)

Only two years to go til we see his face again in the Summer OIympics.
