In Roman mythology there was a man born of a human woman and of the sun god appollo?

did christians just copy the idea of Jesus from this|||If he were mythological, probably so.

But since he was a real person, I highly doubt it.|||More likely they copied the idea from Mithras, or Ossiris. In fact there is a plethera of god/heroes in the ancient world who match christ's profile pretty closely!|||Maybe that is why Pilate was afraid of Jesus when Jesus said to him 'My kingdom is not of this world'|||wasnt it greek mythology first?|||http://www.google.com/custom?q=Mithras%26amp;c鈥?/a>

Sorry its so long. But that link is to other links about Mithras and Christ. Read them if you want to know where the idea of Jesus's divinity came from. I'm not arguing whether there was a real Jesus or not. Just his divinity.|||That is not Roman. That is Greek. And BTW, Satan is a master counterfeiter. Not ONE Greek character was ever prophesied in coming. Only the One who has prophesy to foretell His coming is the authentic.

Having a leader being the son of a god has been going on for a long, long time. I would think it would be hard to attribute just one myth being linked to Jesus.|||One thing is for sure no one knows who the authors of the new testament were, except that is certainly known that non of them were Mathew Mark Luke or John , that is really well beyond any sensible debate!

And certainly beyond debate with any Christian.

Now to complicate things a bit more, the Jews don't think all the prophecies of the coming of Jesus as Messiah as fore told in the old testament were actually fulfilled! And that is also a fact they were not.

Both the Jews and Islam respect the name of Jesus, as a great prophet, but that's about it!

If you even believe that some feller called 'Jesus' actually lived, as they appparently do? (I am not really convinced) then it's possible they are just trying to appease the Christians.

The question then remains, Where did the old testament come from?

If you want to research that then feel welcome it's like opening a bag of worms.

At the end of a lot of research ( and only in my humble opinion) all religion is complete and utter BS!!

The only absolute conclusion I have come to is that there is no way at all that I can prove there is no God, and there is no way at all that anyone can prove to me that there is a God.

Good luck in your search for 'the truth'|||In almost every mythology on earth you will find Gods mingling with humans.|||No... Christians copied the idea of Jesus from the pagan religion of Mithraism.

Do some research... the similarities are uncanny.|||I'm sure there was but he didn't die to save all mankind.|||No...most likely it was copied from Christianity.
