Do the olympics contain any actual athletic events?

After all the up-close and personal profiles, advertisements, shaun white promos, appollo ohono outtakes, and a closing ceremony that looked like something my great grandparents would enjoy (OMG not mimes!), did the athletes actually perform or did they just put on makeup and smile at the crowd?|||I think its REALLY rude that you guys on here are stereotyping americans. Just because one american is an idiot doesn't mean we all are. That's very ignorant of you. I'm sure there are a few rude canadians who say stupid things just like this guy.|||yep there where sports you just missed them|||Did you actually watch any of the broadcasts or did you just get stoned and smile at the TV?|||Daniel, just from your response I can tell your American. Why? Because it's only Americans that attack Canadians. Stop being bitter, and get over yourself.|||Love your question! Of course they performed, but some anticipated athletes are specifically packaged! They usually brushed up a bit before interview.|||Where the hell have you been the past 17 days? There have been events going on everyday. As for the ceremonies, you are the only person I've heard complain about them. You must be american? The closing ceremony was amazing and maybe because you are american you didnt get it and thats why it bored you. The hosting country, Canada, was celebrating their Canadian pride and heritage and making fun of their stereotypes at some points. We had Canadian performers, speakers and showing the world what Canada is about. Go to www.ctv.com and take a look there. They have listed all of the "athletics events" that you somehow missed, when they took place and what the results were.|||I'll admit I didn't love the closing ceremonies...

But I live in Vancouver. You have no idea how amazing the events are, how beautiful the atmosphere is, and what a great experience this was.

Did you see today's hockey game? that should answer your question.|||So...you were asleep the last 2 weeks, and just woke up today to turn the tv on, right?|||Yes, Athletics|||This made me lol :)

Well, at least these Olympics made me realize what a bunch of hillbillies we have up north in Canada and gave me a clear warning to never visit. Despite their number of commercials that told me to. I "need to be there". No, thanks.
